Ben’s Story

“I couldn’t really see a life without it.”.

For Ben, imagining life without an eating disorder was difficult. But so was the thought of missing out on the future he wanted.

He shares what helped him move towards recovery and what it means to enjoy life with friends, leave home for university and find joy in running again

When you know something isn’t right

Ben knew he was struggling, but he didn’t understand why. He had never heard of anorexia and didn’t recognise that an eating disorder could affect him.

Looking back, he speaks openly about the difficult parts of recovery, the words from friends that stayed with him, and why going to university became an important turning point.

His story is his own. We hope that hearing it helps you feel a little less alone, whether you’re struggling yourself or supporting someone you love.
